Volunteering at Herriman Elementary: Background Check & Safety Requirements

We love welcoming Hawk volunteers into our building and having you join us on class field trips, class parties, and helping students learn! Keeping our Herriman students safe is our top priority, so we follow all Jordan School District safety protocols before any volunteer begins their service.

Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, Jordan School District is switching to a fast, convenient online volunteer application through Frontline. This new system replaces the old paper forms and speeds up approvals for everyone.

What’s Changing?

Instead of paper forms, you'll complete a quick online application through Frontline each school year:

  • Complete the annual online application: Online Process | Tutorial

  • Select Herriman Elementary (and any other district schools where you'd like to help out).

  • Submit the form electronically.

Once submitted, our office team reviews the application to determine your access level:

  • Supervised Access: You will always be working alongside a district employee.

  • Unsupervised Access: You may be supervising students or working independently without an employee present (such as leading certain field trip groups).

If your volunteer role requires Unsupervised Access, District HR will guide you through completing the Code of Conduct training, signing the digital acknowledgment, and scheduling a fingerprint background check if needed.

Annual Application Requirement

All volunteers must fill out a new online application at the start of every school year. This keeps our school preferences, contact info, and district safety acknowledgments up to date.
