Herriman Elementary's Safe Walking Routes map:

NORTH OF THE SCHOOL
North of 13100 South: Students should walk out of their neighborhoods towards 13100 South, utilizing sidewalks where possible. Walk along the north side of 13100 South to the Intersection at 6000 West. Use the stoplight and crosswalks and crossing guards to cross the street. Continue south to school. Use crosswalk at 6000 W and 13200 South the safely cross to the school.

EAST OF THE SCHOOL
Rose Creek Subdivision (North of 13400 South): Students should walk out of their neighborhoods towards 6000 West (either using streets and sidewalks or the walking path along the North side of the subdivision). Then walk north along the east side of 13400 South to 13200 South and cross at the crosswalk towards the school.

SOUTH OF THE SCHOOL
Subdivisions south of 13400 South between 5600 W and Rose Canyon Road: Students should walk their way out of their neighborhoods towards Mirabella Drive. Continue on Mirabella Drive to the crosswalk on 13400 South. Use the stoplight, crosswalk, and crossing guard and continue on 6000 West to the school. We ask that walkers use the west side and bikers use the east side and cross at the crosswalk at 6000 West and 13200 South.

SUBDIVISIONS SOUTH OF THE SCHOOL AND WEST OF 600 WEST Students should walk towards 6000 West and then turn north and walk towards the school.

WEST OF THE SCHOOL
Subdivisions along the east side of Rose Canyon Road south of 13400 South: Students are to walk to Rose Canyon Road and then walk along the east side of the road (walking as close to the curbing as possible so you're not in the road nor in yards) to 13400 South. Turn east and walk towards Mirabella Drive/6000 West and cross at the stoplight, crosswalk, and crossing guard. Continue along the west side of the street to the school (walkers use the west side and bikers use the east side and cross at 6000 West and 13200 South).

SUBDIVISIONS ALONG THE WEST SIDE OF ROSE CANYON ROAD SOUTH OF 13400 SOUTH Students are to walk to Rose Canyon Road and then walk along the west side of the road (walking as close to the curbing as possible so you're not in the road nor in yards) to 13400 South. Cross east at 6400 West/13400 South using the stoplight, crosswalk, and crossing guard. Walk east towards Mirabella Drive/6000 West and cross at the stoplight, crosswalk, and crossing guard. Continue along the west side of the street to the school (walkers use the west side and bikers use the east side and cross at 6000 West and 13200 South).

WEST OF ROSE CANYON ROAD FEEDING INTO 13400 SOUTH Until a better option is provided by the city, students walking from these neighborhoods can use the horse trail path towards the manned crosswalk at 6400 West and 13400 South. With the assistance of the crossing guard, cross to the southeast corner of 6400 South and then follow safe walking routes walking east towards Mirabella Drive/6000 West and cross at the stoplight, crosswalk, and crossing guard. Continue along the west side of the street to the school (walkers use the west side and bikers use the east side and cross at 6000 West and 13200 South).

• Please follow the directions of staff members.
• Always use sidewalks when possible.
• When possible, cross streets at crosswalks and at controlled intersections with a 3 or 4-way stop.
• Remember that vehicles may not see you. Look before you cross!
• Walk directly to and from school for safety.
• Drop-off and Pick-up ONLY in designated areas.
• Always walk bikes and scooters on school grounds and be courteous to pedestrians.
